the land, i call to my history (2022-onward)
An interdisciplinary project based in my relationship with Japanese incarceration and lineage
Ancient Memory, 2024
the sediment of time reflects itself again and again
the land watches the terror we inflict on one another
how can a rapidly deteriorating archive hold images with so much grief
and also let us remember our shared histories?
creating landscapes with the residue of these captured memories creates moments that my ancestors can wander through
emeshed
intertwined
connected
twin timelines before us
in the vast desert the dust is a witness to the majesty
disobey
disobey
disobey
can you tell me what you were thinking of?
hands lifting me up
a view of the sky
and the same sun that bronzed them gives me a new sheen
